General Care Instructions
To keep your apparel looking elegant, comfortable, and long-lasting, please follow these care guidelines. Our garments are made with quality fabrics designed for both everyday wear and special occasions, and caring for them correctly will ensure they remain in excellent condition.
- Always check the label – Each item may have slightly different fabric care instructions.
- Wash similar colors together – To prevent color transfer.
- Turn garments inside out – This protects embroidery, prints, and delicate details.
- Avoid harsh detergents – Use mild or gentle detergents suitable for delicate fabrics.
- Do not bleach – It can weaken fibers and damage colors.
Washing
Hand wash recommended for delicate and embroidered pieces.
If using a washing machine:
- Use the gentle cycle (30°C).
- Wash in a laundry bag for extra protection.
Drying
- Air dry flat only – Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading.
- Do not tumble dry, as heat may shrink or damage fabrics.
Ironing & Steaming
Use a low to medium iron setting.
For delicate fabrics like chiffon or satin, use a protective cloth between the iron and the garment.
A steamer is the safest option to remove wrinkles without damaging the fabric.
Special Fabrics
- Cotton – Wash at 30–40°C, tumble dry low (if label allows).
- Polyester blends – Gentle machine wash, quick to dry, minimal ironing needed.
- Silk & Satin – Dry clean or hand wash cold; never wring.
-
Embroidered/Beaded items – Spot clean or dry clean only.
Care Instructions for Chapan Coats and Silk Road Textiles
Preferred:
- Professional dry clean, gentle. Water can distort quilting, bleed dyes, or warp padding.
At Home: (only if clearly colorfast & unpadded):
- Spot-clean (see below), or
- Very brief cold hand-wash with pH-neutral soap → rinse quickly → do not wring → dry flat in shade.
Never:
- Bleach
- Tumble dry
- Hot water
- Long soaks
- Ironing the face with high heat/steam
Spot Cleaning:
- Blot (don’t rub) with cold water.
- Apply a tiny amount of pH-neutral soap on a cotton bud.
- Blot again with clean water.
Colorfastness Test (do this before any spot cleaning!)
- Dampen a white cotton cloth with cold water + a drop of mild detergent.
- Press on an inconspicuous area for 30 seconds.
- If color transfers → no wet washing; dry clean only.
Stains
- For oil or unknown stains on silk/ikat:
→ Stop and take to a professional cleaner. Aggressive solvents can spread dyes.
